Nestled in the picturesque countryside of Herefordshire, just a stone’s throw away from the majestic Malvern Hills, lies The Feathers Hotel, Ledbury. As I recently discovered during my weekend getaway, this charming establishment offers a perfect blend of rustic charm, comfort, and hospitality. Part of the Coaching Inn Group, we have visited many of their hotels now, and have yet to be disappointed.
Location: A Gateway to Natural Beauty
The Feathers Hotel couldn’t be better situated for those seeking an escape from daily life. There is plenty to see in Ledbury for a few hours mooching, and for those who love to get their walking boots on and explore, The Malvern Hills won’t disappoint. Whether you seek a challenging trek along the ridge, a stroll with the dog, or a gentle amble on the accessible trails, the Malvern Hills and Commons offers something for every adventurer.

Ledbury: A Town of Delights
Ledbury, a quaint market town steeped in history and charm, served as the perfect gateway to our enchanting weekend away. This quaint poetry town with its cobbled streets, abundance of timber-framed buildings, and bustling market square exude a timeless allure, inviting visitors to wander and explore at their leisure. We enjoyed wandering up the side streets and tiny alleys to explore the independent shops brimming with artisanal treasures and cosy tearooms offering delectable treats. Ledbury captures the essence of quintessential English charm. Whether you’re browsing for unique souvenirs or grabbing a bite to eat, Ledbury offers a delightful experience at every turn.

The Feathers Hotel: A Home Away From Home
Upon entering The Feathers Hotel, I was immediately struck by its warm and cosy ambiance. The crackling fireplace, plush armchairs, and tasteful décor create an inviting atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploration. We loved nothing more than getting back after a windy day on the hills, to relax in the bar with the roaring fireplace behind us, while playing a game of dominoes. Who said I’m getting old?!

Culinary Delights: A Taste of Tradition
While the food at The Feathers Hotel may be described as average pub fare, in my opinion, the food is probably the one thing that lets the place down and if you are a real foodie, you might want to avoid it and find another place to eat in the town. We ventured out to a local Italian, The Olive Tree, on our second night, and were immediately transported back to Tuscany. The food was incredible and did not disappoint.
Opulent Comfort: A Dreamy Retreat
As we retired to our new refurbished deluxe room at The Feathers Hotel, We were greeted by comfort and luxury. The opulent furnishings, plush bedding, and attention to detail made for a truly indulgent experience. It was the perfect sanctuary to recharge and rejuvenate. The only thing lacking was a view of any kind (we were facing a brick wall), but in an urban hotel something has to give and I can honestly say after the initial disappointment I quickly got over it.

Hospitality at Its Finest: A Warm Welcome
Last but certainly not least, the staff at The Feathers Hotel deserve accolades for their exceptional hospitality. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and genuine kindness. Whether offering local tips or lighting the fire for us when we returned to the bar, their friendly demeanour made us feel right at home.
In conclusion, my stay at The Feathers Hotel is one I would recommend for people wanting to escape the rat run for a day or so. Whilst we weren’t bowled over, as we had been in previous Coaching Inn hotels, such as The Forest Park Country Hotel, The Feathers comfortably and happily ‘did the job’ and met our needs perfectly. Whether you’re seeking a peaceful retreat or a base for exploring the beauty of Herefordshire, The Feathers Hotel is the perfect choice.
